Latest updates of Cricket & BCCI
Thursday, 19th August 2021
Rahul Dravid, the former Indian captain, has reapplied for the role of Head of Cricket at Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy. Dravid was recently appointed as the head coach of the Indian team that toured Sri Lanka last month to play the limited-overs leg, and there were rumours that the Karnataka-born player would take over as India's head coach when Ravi Shastri's contract expires this year.
Because Dravid's two-year contract had expired, the BCCI was forced to issue an open call for candidates. According to the new constitution, there is no provision for extension, and the hiring process must begin all over again.
The application deadline was set for August 15, but the Indian board has extended it to allow for more candidates interested in the position.
"Yes, Rahul has reapplied for the position of Cricket Head. You don't have to be a genius to figure out that he'll keep going after the incredible work he's done to transform NCA into a true centre of excellence "On condition of anonymity, a senior BCCI source with knowledge of the situation told PTI.

"In fact, with the exception of Rahul, no other prominent names of stature have applied for the position as of yet." The BCCI has decided to extend the deadline for application submission by a few days to ensure that interested candidates have enough time to apply.
"The BCCI board of directors has decided to extend the deadline from August 15 by a few days. Everyone knows that applying for a job when Rahul is in the running is pointless. It's more of a formality, but to be fair, there are still a few days left if anyone wants to throw his hat in the ring "the source explained.
After the tour of Sri Lanka, Dravid expressed his reservations about taking on a full-time role with the Indian team in a roundabout way.
His reapplication at least confirms that he still wishes to assist the national cricket team by establishing a reliable supply line.
Nagarkoti, Chakravarthy back in NCA
Injury-prone players Varun Chakravarthy and Kamlesh Nagarkoti, along with Shubman Gill, have returned to the National Cricket Academy to undergo rigorous rehabilitation and fitness tests before being cleared to play in the cash-rich Indian Premier League next month.
"Yes, Chakravarthy and Nagarkoti are here at the NCA doing rehab and fitness routines." I'm guessing that once NCA issues the fit certificate, they'll be flying to the UAE with the rest of the KKR team. Gill is still training at this location.
