AnasHaqqani, a high level leader of the Taliban met up with former Afghan president, Hamid Karzai to hold talks on setting up a new government in the country.
According to a Taliban official, Taliban commander and senior leader of the Haqqani Network militant group, AnasHaqqanimet Karzai for talks as part of an effort to set up government in the war torn Islamic state.

The Haqqani Network is a crucial faction of the Taliban, which took over the capital city of Kabul on Sunday. It is a body that is based out of the border with Pakistan and over the past few years has been accused of some of the most virulent military attacks in Afghanistan.
In the meeting, Karzai was accompanied by the former government`s main peace envoy, Abdullah Abdullah, as per the Taliban source who refused to disclose identity and came forth with no further information.
Meanwhile, China has issued a statement on Wednesday which said they will extend diplomatic recognition to the Taliban in Afghanistan provided the country forms a government that is “open, inclusive and broadly representative.”
Moreover, they reasserted their stance on the Taliban forming an open an inclusive government as well as keeping their word on not permitting any terrorist forces, especially the Uygur militant group from Xinjiang province- the East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM).
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, “China's position on the Afghan issue is consistent and clear.”
He added, “If we have to recognise a government, the first thing is that we will need to wait until the government is formed, we hope there will be an open, inclusive and broadly representative regime in Afghanistan. Only after that, we will come to the question of diplomatic recognition.”
Zha also said, “We have noted the statement from the Afghan Taliban. We hope it will work with other factions at home through dialogue and consultation and establish an inclusive and open political framework and adopt moderate and prudent domestic and foreign policy and ensure that personnel and institutions of other countries in Afghanistan will be safe.”
