Team India captain Virat Kohli was spotted leading India’s coaching session on Sunday as they started preparations for the upcoming third Test to commence on August 25 at Headingley in Leeds.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted some pictures of the training session while it was underway on Sunday and wrote on Twitter, “Turning the heat on at Headingley”.
The Indian team members seemed all geared up ahead of the big match. They lost no time after their arrival in Leeds on Sunday and quickly took to their training session.
K L Rahul who scored a century earlier this month and contributed to India’s triumph over England at Lord’s, looked intent and completely focused on the training session. Captain Kohli too was seen padded up as he gathered some crucial batting practice in the nets ahead of the third Test.
The bowlers also were seen doing their share of practice with off spinner R Ashwin swinging his arms over the nets at Headingley Stadium on Sunday. Others like Ushant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja joined him in this while Rishabh Pant was spotted working on his glovework.
While the first Test finished in a draw, India displayed a stellar performance in the second game getting themselves back into the fight.
On Day 5 of the second Test, both teams exhibited an intense face off with Kohli’s side coming up victorious after a very engaging match.
The English team’s head coach Chris Silverwood last week, announced the names of their 15 players team that would be playing in the third Test. Among those included are Yorkshire batsman Dawid Malan who returned to the Test squad for the first time in three years and Lancashire seamer Saqib Mahmood who is yet to make his Test debut.
Although India will be coming to play with a lead of 1-0 lead, they still have some notable areas of concern that needs working on. While openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma have been in spectacular form, captain Virat Kohl, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara will look at coming to Leeds in better form.
Others like Kohl and Pujara have not yet made big score in the series. Rahane on the other hand had hit a crucial 50 in the the 2nd innings in Lord's.
