Latest updates of Coronavirus
Thursday, 26th August 2021
On Thursday, India passed the 40,000-case milestone for the second time, with 46, 164 new coronavirus cases detected. It was the second day in a row that the number of Covid deaths surpassed 600. The daily Covid fatalities have decreased slightly to 604, according to the national bulletin.
The post-Onam increase in Kerala is one of the primary contributors in the recent jump in daily cases. In the last 24 hours, the state has reported almost 31,000 cases, accounting for more than half of all cases in the country. This is the highest reading in the ‘God's Own Country' since May. According to an Indian Express storey, Kerala's test positivity rate has risen to a terrifying 19%.
The increased number of active cases in India is another concerning sign. According to government data, there has been an increase of roughly 11,000 active cases in the last 24 hours. According to the health update, India now has 3,33,725 active Covid-19 cases.
According to data from the health ministry, the national recovery rate is still at a respectable 97.63 percent. In terms of immunisation, India has already passed a new milestone, with over 60 crore Covid vaccines administered across the country during the mass vaccination push. According to ICMR data, everyday testing is at a moderate level, with about 18 lakh Covid tests performed per day.
In the meantime, the World Health Organization reports that the number of new coronavirus cases has levelled off. According to the UN, 4.5 million cases are recorded every day over the world. This follows a significant increase in the previous 60 days. According to the WHO tally, India is still among the top countries reporting the most cases. Coronavirus cases have been reported in the United States, Brazil, Iran, and the United Kingdom, in addition to India.
Following the remark of WHO's senior scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan, much has been said in India concerning the endemic phase of the coronavirus pandemic. While the current phase may have revealed moderate amounts of new infections, the point is that the future path is uncertain. Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka, for example, have restored schools and reopened major economic activity.
