Samantha Akkineni, a South actor who became a pan-India celebrity after the success of "The Family Man" season two, claims she has never taken jobs based on her perceived image as a star. Taking on Amazon Prime Video's "The Family Man," a mostly Hindi online series helmed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, was just another attempt at trying something new, she said.

"I don't believe any of my decisions have been influenced by my celebrity status." I'd never made such a call before. My star image is so vague that I'm not sure what it is. I'm just a struggling actor who aspires to be better.

"I'm a really greedy actor who expects to be given everything and to continually attempt to improve my art. In general, I choose jobs that I don't think I'll be able to carry off. That's a lot of fun, isn't it? "In an interview with PTI, Akkineni stated.

In the second season of the critically praised show, Akkineni plays Raji, a Sri Lankan Tamil independence warrior who clashes with series lead Manoj Bajpayee's intelligence agent Srikant Tiwari. Akkineni, whose Telugu and Tamil credits include "Eega," "Mahanati," "Mersal," and "Super Deluxe," also addressed the "The Family Man" controversy.

There were calls for a boycott of the series in Tamil Nadu before of the release of the new episode in June, particularly from IT Minister T Mano Thangaraj, over its supposed representation of Eelam Tamils. While the show garnered mainly positive reviews, particularly for Akkineni's performance, many people chastised the producers for 'brown-facing' the fair-skinned actor.

Overall, the Chennai-born actress said she remembers the encounter "only with love."

"I didn't play Raji as a villain," says the actor. She simply happened to be on the wrong side of history. She was devoted to her cause and that was the end of it. I didn't think of her as a bad guy for a second.

"I just gave everything I had." When the reaction and trolling occurred, many individuals approached me and asked for my opinion. But all I wanted to do was wait for the show to air and for everyone to see what we'd accomplished."

Despite the fact that her portrayal originated from "a place of honesty," Akkineni apologised to those who were offended by it.

"If any of them still have grudges against me, I genuinely apologise for offending them in any way." "I didn't mean to insult anyone," she explained.

Akkineni got the best actress award (series) at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2021 last week for "The Family Man 2." At the movie gala, Bajpayee was named best actor (series).

"This is the first time I've received an award for my work. This has a very unique vibe to it "she stated

The level of Hindi content available to her has improved "significantly" since "The Family Man," according to the actor.
