Go across the Himalayan rail routes of Darjeeling

The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway also referred to as Toy Train Service is back and tourists can now travel between the hill station of Darjeeling and New Jalpaiguri. The experience of the toy train ride is truly enchanting. The train ride restarted on the 25th of August after a break of nearly 17 months. The Darjeeling-Ghoom train route also became active in order to offer passengers real joy rides from 16th August onwards.
The much-desired toy train service was stopped temporarily post the start of the pandemic of Covid-19 in the March of 2020.
In a statement GuneetKaur, CPRO; NF Railway said, “As we all try to come out of this pandemic and return to normalcy, NF Railways is happy to announce that they are resuming their toy train services on Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. These services were stopped on March 22, 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and now we are ready to again gear up and start the services from August 25, 2021. We request you all to maintain Covid-19 protocols during your travel and stay safe.”

Furthermore, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is likely to go through a unique transitional phase like never before as it's about to get privatized as per the Monetization Pipeline of the Nation. But this isn’t just the one and only heritage rail route to undergo such alteration as the other railway services such as the Matheran Railway, Kalka Shimla Railway, and Nilgiri Mountain Railways will also go through similar changes.
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is undoubtedly one of the best heritage rail rides in this country. If you wish to experience a slow and lazy journey then this is perhaps the best way out. You’ll get well acquainted with the beauty of the Eastern as well as North Eastern Himalayas.
