In India, where might you find the rare white tigers?
White tigers are stunning! For those who don't know, these tigers are also known as bleached tigers because of their pale colouring, which is caused by a lack of yellow and orange pigments. Madhya Pradesh, India, just opened the world's first white tiger safari. There are only four other places in India where white tigers can be seen outside Madhya Pradesh. Let's take a look at the top 5 sites where white tigers can be found.
Madhya Pradesh's Bandhavgarh National Park
There was a time when white tigers roamed the forests of Bandhavgarh. In and around the Bandhavgarh woods, they were easily spotted. In 1993, the jungle was designated as a Tiger Reserve after serving the Maharajas of Rewa.
West Bengal's Sundarbans National Park
Sundabas is already well-known for its tiger population, as it is one of Bengal's major reserves. White tigers have also been observed in the area on multiple occasions, making it a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Visitors come from all over the world in the hopes of seeing the rare animal.
Tamil Nadu's Nilgiri Hills
In 2017, a rare white tiger was discovered for the first time in the Nilgiris. A wildlife photographer from Bengaluru noticed the beautiful critter in the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and photographed it. The Nilgiri Hills, which are part of the Western Ghats, are one of India's most diversified wildlife and biodiversity hotspots.
Madhya Pradesh's Mukundpur
Mukundpur's deep and gloomy jungles provide ideal habitat for these magnificent big cats. The exhilarating ride takes visitors into the park, where they may see white tigers in their natural habitat. The optimum time to visit the zoo, which is located inside the Mukundpur Forest in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Assam's Kaziranga National Park
Though the deep forests of Kaziranga are home to the rare one-horned rhinoceros, the deep forests also house white Bengal tigers. Several sightings have been recorded in the area. It's an uncommon occurrence, but we can't rule it out.
