Vaccine Information on Google Apps. Know more…
Thursday, 2nd September 2021
Google is adding new features to some of its services to help the vaccination campaign in India. Starting this week, Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Search will contain detailed information about COVID vaccination centers close to users. This feature will be supported by the implementation of the CoWIN Portal API in India to provide real-time information about vaccine availability and appointments.
Google added that more than 13,000 locations across the country will provide vaccination assistance. The information to be provided will include the availability of the reservation space for each center, whether the center provides the first or second dose of the corresponding vaccine (Covishield, Covaxin, or other), and any pricing information (if applicable).

Please note that users still need to go to the CoWIN portal to make an appointment. However, Google will provide quick links to maps and other services so that users can quickly access the portal.
"As people continue to search for information related to the pandemic to manage the lives around them, we remain committed to finding and sharing accurate and timely information on our platform," said Hema Budaraju, Google Search Director.
For those who do not use Google Maps, the same information will also be provided in the Google search application and Google Assistant and will appear when searching for terms related to Covid or vaccine.
Google also brought all vaccine-related information in several regional languages. In addition to English, users can also get vaccination help in eight Indian languages. This includes Kannada, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, and Marathi.
