Apple App Store rules. Know more…
Thursday, 2nd September 2021
Apple said Wednesday night that Apple will relax App Store regulations that prohibit companies like Netflix Inc from providing customers with links to create paid accounts in order to bypass Apple's commissions for in-app purchases.
This is the second grant to regulators and the company in less than a week, as the iPhone maker faces legal, regulatory, and legislative challenges from the App Store, which is the core of its $ 53.8 billion service unit.
But Apple will continue to prohibit developers from making other forms of payment in applications on the iPhone. This is a key focus that the creators of Fortnite, Epic Games, Spotify Technology, and Match Group expressed their hope to finish.

Apple charges fees of 15% to 30% for in-app purchases and sets up barriers to prevent developers from directing users to payment alternatives. One of the rules prohibits "reading apps", in which users consume content they buy elsewhere, from providing links to sign up for paid accounts.
Apple said Wednesday that as part of the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) findings, it will remove the rule early next year. Apple said it has reached an agreement with JFTC to allow developers of these applications to share a single link to their website to help users set up and manage their accounts. Although this change is part of the agreement with JFTC, Apple said it will apply globally.
Before, Apple allowed the creation of a link to an account, but only if the creation of the account did not involve entering payment information. This means that companies like Netflix that do not have a free service layer and require payment upon registration cannot provide links.
Last week, Apple reached a settlement with a group of US developers in a class-action lawsuit because the iPhone manufacturer is waiting for the same US judge to make a ruling in another App Store dispute filed by Epic Games. In that transaction, Apple ended the prohibition on developers from notifying users about payment methods via email outside of the app.
