Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, holds numerous cricketing records and is presently regarded as one of the top players in the world. Kohli is a hugely popular character both on and off the field, with a fan base that few athletes can match. The flamboyant batter, who is known for his on-field aggression, became the first Indian cricketer to reach 150 million Instagram followers on Friday. He's also the first Indian celebrity to reach this milestone, making him the country's most popular person on the photo and video sharing site.

Kohli, on the other hand, is placed fourth in the sporting world in terms of global appeal, after Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal, Lionel Messi of Argentina, and Brazilian striker Neymar Jr.

At over 337 million followers, Ronaldo is the indisputable king of Instagram. He is about to begin his second spell with Premier League heavyweights Manchester United. With 260 million followers, Barcelona's new superstar Messi is ranked second on the list.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is one of the highest-paid cricketers in the world. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pays the 32-year-old Rs 7 crore because he is in the A category of their central contract. This category also includes Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah.

Kohli is now in England for the five-match Test series between the two nations.
