2022 New Teams: Guwahati, Ranchi, Cuttack, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Dharamsala are among the new cities, according to data collected by Newstalkie. According to information obtained by Insidesport, Ahmedabad is the most likely candidate, with Guwahati and Lucknow vying for the second franchise. The auction will be completed next month, with the BCCI setting a basic price of Rs 2,000 crore for the two new teams.
New Teams in 2022: The BCCI hopes to capitalise on Hindi-speaking regions.
Apart from Delhi and Punjab, cricket's popularity is the primary reason for the BCCI's interest in acquiring a franchise from the North. According to Star Sports, the official broadcaster, Hindi-speaking regions account for 65 percent of the total viewership of the 4 billion minutes. Even in the current Test series between India and England, 50.7 percent of viewers are from the same region.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the three franchises in the Southern area. Kochi was one of the possible cities, however because to current lawsuit with the now-defunct Kochi Tuskers franchise, BCCI wants to focus on the North and Eastern zones.
The BCCI anticipates the two new franchises to cost at least Rs 5,000 crore each.
The BCCI is anticipating a budget of at least Rs. 5000 crore. Next season, there will be 74 IPL games, which is a win-win situation for everyone. IPL teams are a terrific investment that have paid off handsomely for the initial investors. We don't believe the base price of 2,000 crores is excessive, and we hope to receive 3000-3500 crores each team.”
