England's 16-man squad for the 5th Test has been announced: Jos Buttler and Jack Leach have returned to the team, while Sam Billings has been discharged.

England have reinstated wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and off-spinner Jack Leach for the fifth and final Test against India, while batsman Sam Billings has been discharged by the team management.

Buttler was unable to participate in the fourth Test owing to the birth of his second child, while Leach is anticipated to be selected in the playing XI for the series finale, which begins on September 10 at Old Trafford in Manchester.

"England Men's Head Coach Chris Silverwood has chosen a 16-player squad for the fifth LV= Insurance Test match against India, which begins on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Emirates Old Trafford.

"Following the birth of his daughter during the fourth Test at the Kia Oval, Lancashire wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler returns to the squad.

"Jack Leach, a Somerset spinner, has been added to the squad for the series' final Test. Sam Billings, a batsman who was part of the fourth Test squad, has returned to Kent "In a statement, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said.

On the final day of the fourth Test at The Oval on Monday, England's batting collapsed, losing by 157 runs to give India a 2-1 series lead.
