Shikhar Dhawan, an Indian cricketer, and his wife Ayesha Mukherjee have split after an eight-year marriage. Ayesha Mukherjee took to social media to confirm the news and put an end to the rumours.

In October 2012, Shikhar Dhawan married Ayesha Mukherjee, who has two daughters from her prior marriage. The couple has a 7-year-old son named Zoravar, whom they welcomed into the world in 2014.

It's amazing how words can have such strong connotations and associations. As a divorced woman, I have firsthand experience with this. I was soooo afraid the first time I went through a divorce. I felt like I'd failed and that there was something I was doing incorrectly.

"I felt like I'd let everyone down, and I even felt a little selfish." I felt as if I was betraying my parents, my children, and even God. Divorce was such a taboo subject.

"Imagine now that I have to go over it a second time. Woooahhhhhh. That is a terrible thought. I felt like I had more at risk the second time around because I had already been divorced once. I still had a lot to prove. So it was terrifying when my second marriage ended. All of the emotions I felt the first time I went through it came pouring back. Fear, failure, and disappointment multiplied by a factor of a hundred. What does this imply for me personally? What does this mean for me and my married relationship?

"Well, as I went through the necessary acts and emotions of what had transpired, I was able to sit with myself and observe that I was alright, in fact, I was doing fantastic, and I even noticed that my dread had vanished completely." What's more astonishing is that I felt considerably more in control. I realised I was the one who created my dread and the meaning I ascribed to the word divorce.
