World-class batting line up for team India
Thursday, 9th September 2021
English fast bowler Mark Wood was all praises about India’s Rohit Sharma and said it is not an easy feat to bowl to the Indian opener in any conditions.
The pacer spoke about Sharma in a virtual press conference and stated, “Rohit Sharma is brilliant, he is tough to bowl at in any conditions.”
Rohit Sharma displayed stellar form in the ongoing Test series in England putting up 369 runs for his team in eight innings. This also includes a century which went on to clinch a victory for the Indian side at the Oval in the ongoing five match Test series.
Wood also said, “KL Rahul, I have been really impressed with him, he has left the bowl really well early on and played really solitary and when he gets in, he has played quite beautifully. The openers are two big wickets for us.”
He added, “Then you have got (Cheteshwar) Pujara, (Virat) Kohli, I mean Kohli is one of the toughest players that I have bowled at in any format, so it is world class line-up, but if you don't believe in yourself, if you don't believe you can get them out then there is no point in playing.”
After emerging victorious with a 2-1 lead in the second and fourth tests of the five-match series, the Indian team has an upper hand of the home team. The won the two matches by a wide berth of 151 and 157 runs respectively.
They however had lost to the hosts in the third game at Leeds by an innings and 76 runs.
Wood also spoke very highly about the Indian pace bowlers and expressed the deep respect he has for them. He said, “I think, every-team has quality pacers, this is national cricket, this is not (some) sort of school or club cricket. Every team has fantastic bowlers and I respect this Indian pace attack immensely.”
The right-arm pacer who claimed 64 wickets in 21 Tests, is also confident about his own team and said they will bounce back having “messed up” on the last day at Lord’s.
