Testing Negative is a pre-requisite for Team India…get the details
Monday, 13th September 2021
Head coach of the Indian cricket team Ravi Shastri along with his support staff comprising of colleagues Bharat Arun and R Sridhar, will in all probability depart from the United Kingdom as soon as they are in possession of two negative test reports for the RT-PCR.
The three members from the Indian squad had tested positive for the deadly virus while the fourth test was still underway at the Oval cricket ground in England, and have been in quarantine since September 4.
Shastri along with Arun and Sridhar are expected to finish serving their ten-day isolation period on Monday and will be required to have their negative RT-PCR reports before they can leave the UK shores for their home country. They will then join the team in Dubai where a much more stringent bio-bubble will be implemented after the IPL when the Indian team will start getting ready for the T20 World Cup tournament.
According to a senior officer of the BCCI, “Ravi, Sridhar and Arun are all doing well physically and are mostly asymptomatic. They will take their RT-PCR test on Monday and if all goes well, they can fly out on the original date of departure, that is September 15. The final call will be taken by the medical team.”
While other members of the support staff will be moving out of the UK on Monday afternoon by commercial flight via Dubai, a few of them like junior physio Yogesh Parmar will continue to serve his quarantine for a few more days. Parmar had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on September 8 and will be required to remain here for some time until he can fly back home.
Meanwhile, after Virat Kohli raised objections to fielding his team over apprehensions of more cases during the incubation period, the fifth Test between India and England at the Old Trafford was cancelled.
It is believed that the stalled match will be resumed next year in July. However, the ECB has sought a quick resolution on the matter by the Dispute Resolution Committee and has approached ICC.
