India Records Below 30,000 Fresh Covid-19 Cases for Third Consecutive Day

India logged 25,404 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours taking the cumulative count in the country to 3,32,89,579 according to data released by the Union Health Ministry. With 339 new deaths due to the illness, the total number of fatalities has climbed up to 4,43,213 as per the data.

There has been a significant boost in the pace of vaccination across the country which has shown a decline in the number of daily cases. For the third consecutive day now India has reported cases below the 30,000-mark.

On Monday, yet another milestone has been achieved by India as it crossed the 75-crore mark in vaccination, the first country in the whole world to achieve this in the least possible time.

As per data from the Union Health Ministry, 60 per cent of the country’s eligible adult population has been administered with the first dose of the vaccine while 19 per cent has received both the doses.

Experts state that India needs to inoculate at least 60 per cent of its total population by the end of the year in order to stave off the potential third wave of the pandemic. However, at the current rate India is likely to cover only 43 per cent of its population by the end of 2021.

In order to achieve the requisite numbers, the country requires 12 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine per day.

Experts also worry that laxity among the Indian population to get inoculated ahead of the festive season, may not only pull the country back in its endeavor to achieve the target figures but also reverse the gain it has made in its fight against the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Kerala continues to account for the maximum case load of the daily number of cases of Covid-19 in the country. Of the 25,404 new cases reported in India in the last 24 hours, Kerala had 15,058 cases Apart from these there were 28,439 recoveries, and 99 deaths logged by the southern state.
