Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Mumbai Indians by 20 runs in the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPLUAE )'s leg in Dubai on Sunday. CSK moved to the top of the IPL 2021 points table with the victory. The MS Dhoni-led CSK are tied for first place with the Delhi Capitals with 12 points from eight games, but they lead the table due to a higher net run rate. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who are currently third in the table, will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
IPL Points Table
CSK's 20-run victory over the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, has propelled them to the top of the table. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, remain in fourth place.
On Monday, RCB, who are currently third in the points table, will have the opportunity to pull away from the bottom half of the table. They will face KKR, who are currently seventh in the table.
Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings are fifth and sixth on the table, respectively, while SunRisers Hyderabad are at the bottom with just one win in IPL 2021.
Race for Orange Cap
Ruturaj Gaikwad moved up to fifth place in the list of top run scorers after match number 30. On Sunday, the young opening batsman batted 88 not out against the Mumbai Indians.
Shikhar Dhawan leads the Orange Cap race with 380 runs from eight matches, followed by KL Rahul (331) and Faf du Plessis (320).
Race for Purple Cap
Deepak Chahar and Trent Boult both took two wickets on Sunday to move up to sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Harshal Patel of the RCB has the most wickets in the tournament so far, with 17 from eight games.
Avesh Khan and Chris Morris have both taken 14 wickets, tying for second place.
