Irfan plays a widow who is on the verge of retirement, without many goals in life. One day, he received a letter from an unknown lady in the lunch box, and he was forced to reply. Through the letter, the two became strangers. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the role of Irrfan's Junior, who sees him as a mentor.

This film has been widely recognized in screenings and international film festivals. Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar are the hosts of this film.

The incredibly beautiful storytelling marks the first appearance of Ritesh Batra. He directed another project with "Photograph" by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra. One of the film’s greatest honors is the nomination for the "Best Non-English Language" category at the British Academy of Film Awards. The film also won the Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Screenplay and the Jury Award for two awards with Reitesh Bartra.

This film has also been nominated in 7 categories at the Asia Pacific Film Festival. The film won awards in three categories, including Navazuddin Sidiki’s Best Supporting Actor, Rites Batra’s Best Screenplay, and the legendary Ilfan Khan’s Outstanding Achievement Award.

 In the 8th Asian Film Awards, Irfan Khan was named the best actor, and Ritesh Bartra was named the best screenwriter. The film received two of three nominations at the Dubai International Film Festival, including Ritesh Bartra’s Special Nomination Feature Film and Irfan Khan’s Best Actor.
