New Public Policy Head for Facebook India

Facebook India on Monday said it has named ex-IAS official and previous Uber chief Rajiv Aggarwal as the Director of Public Policy.
He succeeds Ankhi Das, who quit in October last year. She was involved in contention for restricting authorization of disdain discourse rules against conservative forerunners in the country.
Aggarwal, in this job, will characterize and lead significant strategy improvement drives for Facebook in India on a plan that covers client wellbeing, information assurance and protection, consideration, and web administration, an assertion said.
In this job, Aggarwal will answer to Ajit Mohan, Vice President and Managing Director of Facebook India, and will be a piece of the India initiative group, it added.
His last task was with Uber, where he was the Head of Public Policy for India and South Asia, the assertion said.
Aggarwal accompanies 26 years of involvement as an Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) and has functioned as a District Magistrate in nine areas across the province of Uttar Pradesh.
During his residency as an authoritative official, he controlled India's very first public arrangement on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) as Joint Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (M/o Commerce), and was instrumental in the computerized change of India's IP workplaces, the assertion said.
He has been firmly connected with the India-US reciprocal exchange gathering, other than being India's lead moderator on IPRs with different countries, it added.
On the arrangement, Ajit Mohan said Facebook is a partner for the interesting financial and social change that India is seeing, with computerized assuming a focal part.
"We understand we are profoundly drenched in the texture of India and we have the chance to assist with building a more comprehensive and safe web that benefits everybody in the country. I'm excited that Rajiv is going along with us to lead the Public Policy group.

Aggarwal's arrangement comes after a progression of senior and authority enrollments lately across advertising, associations, interchanges, and other key verticals exhibiting the organization's extending sanction and obligation to India.
