HasanMushrif Denies Allegations of Corruption Leveled by KiritSomaiya, Says He Will File Rs 100 Cr Defamation Charge

HasanMushrif angry over KiritSomaiya’s comments

Senior BJP leader and former Mumbai MP KiritSomaiya hurled a barrage of allegations at rural development minister and senior NCP leader HasanMushrif accusing him and his family of being embroiled in a scam involving the laundering of Rs 127 crore. Mushrif got back at Somaiya threatening to lodge a Rs 100-crore defamation suit against him claiming all charges levied against him and his family are false and baseless.

While Somaiya said at a news conference, “Mushrif has indulged in corrupt practices including money laundering, holding benami entities through his family members and family companies,” Mushrif, a senior leader from Kolhapur said, “The allegation which is being made by KiritSomaiya are part of BJP's big conspiracy and ChandrakantPatil is the mastermind of this. I have been very vocal about the Centre using central agencies against MahaVikasAghadi (MVA) and on the issue of (former Mumbai Police commissioner) Parambir Singh. It is the reason I am being framed by BJP through KiritSomaiya to stop me.”

Somaiya named several companies and entities and linked them with Mushrif, his wife SaheraHasanMushrif, son NavidMushrif along with the entire Mushrif family stating they have “indulged into creating dozens of webs of companies having transactions with Kolkata-based shell companies also. Financial transactions shown in their bank accounts receiving income from those companies which did not exist.” He said, they have several shell companies, “benami properties”.

Somaiya said he will be soon on his way to the national capital where he will be meeting officials of the Finance Ministry and has already logged a complaint and submitted necessary documents with the Income Tax authorities in Mumbai. He stated that he will now forward the paperwork to the Enforcement Directorate.

The BJP leader also mentioned that he has the details of two other leaders involved in the corruption, one of them from NCP and the other from Shiv Sena.

Somaiya has been known to level allegations in earlier instances also against Maharashtra Cabinet Ministers ChhaganBhujbal and Anil Parab.
