IPL 2021, MI vs RR - Nathan Coulter-Nile lauds Ishan Kishan: 'It was matter of time he got runs'

The Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) match in Sharjah on Tuesday. The MI chased down the mark in just 8.2 overs, losing two wickets, after limiting Sanju Samson's side to 90/9 in 20 overs.

Ishan Kishan, who had been battling with form since the commencement of the UAE portion of the competition, had a brilliant comeback, bowling 50 off just 25 deliveries to remain unbeaten. During his half-century, he hit five fours and three sixes.

MI pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile, who recorded fantastic stats in the game (4/14 in four overs), praised the Indian kid in the post-match press conference.

"I believe it is beneficial to have anyone among the runners. It was fantastic for Ishan to come in and play so well on a wicket like this, especially after missing a couple of games. This demonstrates the depth of talent we have on our bench. I'm glad to see him get some runs; he was slamming it about in the preseason, so it was only a matter of time before he scored some "said the bowler from Australia.

"I believe that Ishan should bat at the top of the order. He likes to play his shots, so once Quinton de Kock was out, I believe he was planned to bat in the top-order. I'm not sure if hitting in the middle order was an option for him."

Coulter-Nile also discussed MI's outstanding bowling performance, claiming that the pressure put on him by the other bowlers helped him.

"For someone else to succeed, we all have to bowl well. Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah are bowling effectively for us. Everyone who comes in is responsible for keeping the pressure on. James Neesham bowled brilliantly against Rajasthan Royals. So, I was fortunate that pressure was placed when I came on and I was able to get the wickets; in the next game, it might be anyone else. We've been doing pretty well, and hopefully we can keep it up "Coulter-Nile stated.
