Latest updates of Covid-19 India

Wednesday, 13th October 2021

In the midst of Covid-19, India celebrates Durga Puja with caution. The threat of a third wave is still present, as seen by an increase in new cases in several parts of the country. The R-values of Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Mumbai are all hanging around 1, raising fears of another outbreak of Coronavirus infections. Covid-19 recommendations for holiday celebrations have already been issued by the Union Health Ministry, various states, and UTs. To prevent a spike in Covid-19 cases, governments and experts have advised people to observe Covid-19 protocols such as wearing markings, keeping a safe distance, and avoiding crowding.

People are concerned that the approaching third wave will have a greater impact on youngsters than on adults. According to a study conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), about 60% of children are infected with Covid-19. Children, on the other hand, have a death rate of 2 per million, which is quite low. However, there is concern about what will happen if the third wave reaches India. Dr. Sanjay Rai, Prof, AIIMS Delhi's Centre for Community Medicine, said, "There is no such evidence to justify that vaccine will be highly useful for children." As a result, children will be put in jeopardy.

However, the presence of antibodies in 82.6 percent of samples obtained from citizens aged 18 and up was found in the latest serosurvey done by the Kerala Health Department to assess the incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection, which is a promising indicator. Kerala, which had previously been a source of concern, has seen a significant decrease in new Coronavirus infections in recent days.

For the past three days, India has reported less than 20,000 new Covid-19 cases. According to figures from the Union Health Ministry, India added 14,313 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, the fewest in 224 days, bringing the total number of Covid-19 illnesses to 3,39,85,920. The number of people who died each day as a result of Coronavirus complications remained below 200. With 181 more deaths, the country's Covid-19 death toll now stands at 4,50,963. The number of active cases in the country has dropped to 2,14,900, the lowest level in 212 days, accounting for 0.63 percent of all cases.
