According to data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 a.m., India recorded 15,823 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections to 3,40,01,743, with the national Covid recovery rate increasing to 98.06 percent.
According to data updated at 8 a.m., the total number of dead had reached 4,51,189, with 226 new fatalities.
For the past 19 days, the daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000, and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for the past 108 days.
The number of active cases has decreased to 2,07,653, accounting for 0.61 percent of all infections, while the national Covid recovery rate has reached 98.06 percent, according to the ministry.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reported on Wednesday that 13,25,399 COVID-19 tests were performed in the previous 24 hours.
