Mirzapur maker Puneet Krishna enters into collaboration with streaming service Netflix to develop two series

Writer & movie director, Puneet Krishna, the maker of the very popular crime-based drama ‘Mirzapur’ is all set to collaborate with Netflix, a streaming platform of global repute. In collaboration with Netflix the director Krishna is likely to make as well as show-run two interesting series, one, a drama and another, a dark comedy.

The shows will probably get into the production later in the year or in the first half of next year. While giving the details of his association with the streaming service, Puneet Krishna remarked, “My association with Netflix is in-line with my vision for myself as a storyteller and for the evolution of my body of work as I have imagined it to be.”

Krishna further said that the streaming service had set up a robust and lively storytelling ethos and culture for the writers.

“I admire their focussed sense of innovation which offers creative talent like me limitless possibilities to grow and evolve. I continue to be grateful to the audience who have loved my past work and I hope I can continue entertaining them as I start this new chapter,” Krishna added.

When asked to comment, Monika Shergill, Vice President of the Content Wing of Netflix India referred to Puneet Krishna as one of the finest storytellers of the country.

Puneet Krishna debuted as the co-writer of Excel Entertainment’s Bangistan, a much lauded black comedy satire. The strong and unique storyline of Bangistan fetched in praises from the critics and catapulted Krishna to the peak of name and fame.

Krishna could also book a place for himself in the Writers’ Room of Inside Edge, an Indian Original project under the ownership of Amazon Prime. However, his most famed work is undoubtedly Mirzapur, a piece produced for Amazon Prime by the reputed Indian production company Excel Entertainment. Puneet Krishna had worked on the ‘Mirzapur’ project as a co-creator alongside Vineet Krishna and Karan Anshuman.
