Working from home? Learn to stay healthy while you work from home.

Thursday, 22nd April 2021

The work-from-home way of life induced by the covid pandemic and resultant lockdowns across 2020 has increased the family time for many. The entire family has come to stay together under a single roof enjoying the company for each other for an extended period. Also, curfews in the current times have caused people to stay indoors. But when you are working from home or spending time with your family, one thing that takes a back seat is your health…you’ll eat more, move less and eat less while you are locked in. But, setting proper health goals even when you are working from home and staying indoors is important as it can help you gain wellness and health as a family while staying safe at home together.

Madhuri Ruia, acclaimed Pilates expert, and nutritionist tells you how to become the cheerleaders for each other by encouraging a lifestyle that’s happier and healthier:

Indoor fitness Equipment/Tools Work

Lockdowns have made indoor fitness much of a rage. People are striving hard to follow a healthier lifestyle indoors. Enrolling in fitness classes online and taking those lessons together as a family, making use of indoor exercise props such as dumbbells and resistance bands, motivating each other to exercise consistently and regularly, and adhering to the healthy habit-forming rule of 21/90 can let you and your family stay at the top of the fitness routine even when you are leading a life indoors. Exercising indoors can give a boost to your self-confidence, energy levels and de-stress you remarkably.

Taking mini-breaks are a must

The covid-19 pandemic has made us realize that life isn’t just about deadlines, virtual work-related calls, and projects…there’s much more to life. Therefore we must relish each moment of the life we have and be grateful each time as we spend time with our family safely indoors. The times are quite uncertain now and the best way to deal with this is to stay positive and cherish the smaller happy moments life gifts you. So, take mini breaks from work every 3 hours and liven up your mood by joining your other family members for a cup of tea, a game of cards, or a catch or a comedy show on TV. Just 15 minutes of break would be fine and would help you return to work more productive and attentive.

Grab the proper nutrition

While most of us try staying fit and well-toned in our bodies through exercises, one thing that slips from our minds is the nutrition part. Your body needs proper nutrition to stay healthy. Start your day with nuts like almonds for that much-needed energy boost for the rest of the day. Almonds are high in minerals like phosphorus, zinc, folate, copper, and magnesium and in Vitamin B2 and E. Thus, eating almonds the first thing in the morning could let you stay active for the rest of the day. Munching on a handful of this nut could curb your appetite thus, limiting unhealthy snacking during your stay at home. Consuming almonds could also give you glowing skin, boost your heart health, boost your immunity power and help you manage diabetes effectively.
