Shortage of oxygen supplies, unavailability of hospital beds, unavailability of adequate safety gears for the frontline workers, running out of vaccine stocks and other such cardinal issues related to the covid pandemic management has brought the Central Government under the anvil of criticism not only from the opposition but also from the people of the country especially those who have experienced the pain of losing a loved one to the deadly covid virus due to inadequacies in the medical infrastructure.
Recently, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, a famed Congress party leader and daughter of Sonia Gandhi and Ex-late PM, Rajiv Gandhi on this Monday fiercely attacked the government of India in connection with the Central Vista Project and also went on to express doubts regarding the expenditure made on a new, improved residence for the country’s prime minister when the funds could be made use of for the COVID-19 pandemic-related medical help.
The redevelopment focused Central Vista project—aptly regarded as the country’s power corridor—foresees a new and unique triangular building of the Parliament, a common and improved Central Secretariat, the renovation of the Rajpath stretching to a distance of 3kms from the important landmark of the Rashtrapati Bhavan to the India Gate and the new residences for the PM of India and the vice president of India.

The central government has included the above mentioned construction work pertaining to this ambitious project within the ambit of the “essential services” in order to ensure the smooth and seamless movement of the labourers at the time of the pandemic-triggered ongoing lockdown in the country capital of Delhi.
“PM’s new residence & Central vista cost = Rs 20,000 cr = 62 crore vaccine doses = 22 crore Remdesvir vials = 3 crore 10 litre oxygen cylinders = 13 AIIMS with a total of 12,000 beds. WHY?” wrote Priyanka Gandhi in her tweet.
Rahul Gandhi, his sister Priyanka Gandhi and many other prominent leaders of the Congress Political Party have been repeated asking the Country’s government to temporarily shelve the plans it has, related to the Central Vista project and prioritize the improving of the country’s medical infrastructure during the current COVID-19 crisis for saving the lives of the infected masses.
