So far as vaccinations are concerned, the health ministry has stated that the cumulative vaccine doses that have been so far administered across the country is 528.9 million.

The ministry also said, that states and union territories are in receipt of over 540.4 million Covid-19 vaccine doses so far. There are a further 1,09,83,510 doses of the vaccine that are in the pipeline.

On June 21, after an announcement made by the prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, the universalization of Covid-19 vaccination started. The vaccination drive has ever since received a boost with the help of more and more vaccine doses that have been made available to states and union territories. They have also received added support from the Centre who have been supplying the vaccine doses free of any charge.

According to the health ministry, the entire vaccination exercise is an instrument that helps take care of the most vulnerable sections of the population from the pandemic as it continues to be closely monitored and reviewed at the highest level.

It is being forecasted by experts that a possible third wave of the coronavirus pandemic may be around the corner and may hit as early as the end of this month. There has also been a spike seen in the past few days in the daily number of positive Covid-19 cases, which is being attributed to the highly transmissible Delta variant.
