A new report from the Asia-Pacific Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Leadership Network (APLN) warns that the development of weapons and space capabilities in Asia-Pacific countries is on the rise. The report emphasized that India, China, and Japan continue to advance to the forefront of space, "laying the foundation for future conflicts outside the Earth."

The report was prepared by independent space expert Dr. Namrata Goswami and studied the space energy capabilities of major regional powers under the increasingly dominant position of India and China.

The report assessed the prospects for the proliferation of space warfare capabilities, institutions, and legal systems, as well as restrictions on space weapons, worst-case militarization, and ways to demilitarize space. According to the report, "China, India, and Japan, in particular, are leading aerospace countries with independent launch capabilities and ambitions for spatial resolution and utilization of space resources."
