The BCCI has released a new domestic cricket schedule for India, with the Ranji Trophy event planned to take place from January 5 to March 20 in 2021-22. Due of the COVID-19 epidemic and the logistical challenges of maintaining an extended bio-bubble for 38 teams, the Ranji Trophy was not held last season. Although the competition has returned to the BCCI's domestic calendar, senior men's cricket will begin on October 27 with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which will be staged after the IPL to assure the availability of top cricketers.
From December 1 to 29, the Vijay Hazare Trophy will take held, while senior women will compete in their maiden competition, the National One Day, from October 20 to November 20.
The season begins on September 20 with the women's and men's U-19 one-dayers (Vinoo Mankad Trophy), followed by the U-19 Challenger Trophy for both women and men on October 25 and 26.
From November 9 to December 10, the U-25 one-dayers will be conducted, while the CK Nayudu Trophy (also U-25, but this year's U-23) will begin on January 6.
Groupings
The 38 teams will be placed into six groups for the senior men's tournaments (Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy).
