With India aiming to vaccinate all people by the end of the year, the government has launched a new WhatsApp-based service for booking vaccine appointments.
"We're ushering in a new era of citizen convenience: now you can simply book COVID-19 vaccine slots on your phone in minutes," Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted this morning.

"Send the message 'Book Slot to MyGovIndia Corona Helpdesk' to MyGovIndia Corona Helpdesk on WhatsApp. Check the OTP. Stick to the instructions "He also included a link in his message.
Relevant information can be retrieved from CoWIN, the government portal that links every vaccine dosage to its receiver, by following the steps.
Another noteworthy change was the government's introduction earlier this month of the ability to obtain a vaccination certificate via WhatsApp. This came as a comfort to people attempting to obtain confirmation of immunisation, as the CoWIN platform has previously reported problems. Vaccine certificates are being requested for interstate travel, among other things, amid fears of a third Covid outbreak.
"Using technology to revolutionise the lives of ordinary people! In three simple steps, you may now obtain a #COVID19 immunisation certificate with MyGov Corona Helpdesk. +91 9013151515 On WhatsApp, type 'covid certificate' and send it.
