'Snake Venom' Beer Could Be the World's Strongest

Attention, beer drinkers: This is a challenge you might not want to take on. Snake Venom, a drink created by the UK brewing business Brewmeister (perhaps in a nightmare), is now the world's strongest beer, with an ABV of 67.5 percent. Most alcoholic beverages, such as vodka and whiskey, have an ABV of around 40%.

Another unique feature of English barley beer is that it is too alcoholic to be carbonated, which sets it apart from virtually every other beer on the planet.

“The liquid is too dense to hold the bubbles in the same manner that a conventional beer can,” a Brewmeister spokeswoman told Thrillist.

“We chose to do it as an experiment,” says the author "explains the spokeswoman “The corporation had previously experimented with different strong beers and discovered that there was a demand in certain export markets, particularly China."

The beer isn't yet available in the United States, but if you reside in the United Kingdom or are planning a trip there soon, Snake Venom will set you back $76 per bottle. You can't even drink it like an ordinary beer: The brewery suggests that you consume it in 35-ml quantities at a time (similar to the amount that can fit in a shot glass).
