Navjot Sidhu just days after preparing the stage for party supporter Amarinder Singh had resigned as successor to the post of chief minister.

As Congress struggles with withdrawals and crises in several states, a leader of the "G23" or a group of 23 dissidents from the party shot down a new letter to Sonia Gandhi after the attack last year, while another questioned the decisions she represents in The cusp. Ghulam Nabi Azad has written to the acting chief requesting a meeting of the highest body of Congress to elect a full-time party president.

“Now there is no president-elect in Congress. Who takes calls? We don't know who makes the decisions in the party, "said party leader Kapil Sibal, asking many awkward questions as the party processed its collapse in Punjab.

"We are the G23, definitely not Ji Huzoor23. We will continue to address the issues, ”said Mr. Sibal and shot the Gandhis without naming them.

“Why are people leaving? Maybe we should see if it's our fault? We need to convene a CAQ immediately, at least so that a dialogue can take place. We will not leave the ideology of the party to go elsewhere. The irony of Congress is that the elected, those who are close to them (Gandhis) have left and those who believe that they are not close to them are still there, "said Sibal.

" We are not going to leave the ideology "of the party or go elsewhere. Congress is the only party that can save this republic because the current regime is destroying the very foundations of our republic. "

Last year, the "G23" wrote an unprecedented letter to Sonia Gandhi for the first time, demanding radical changes in the party and "visible" and effective leadership. Since then, various leaders have reminded the Gandhis that nothing has changed locally and that the downward spiral of Congress continues.

In Punjab, just four months before the elections, a series of disastrous decisions led the Gandhis to support Navjot Singh Sidhu against Amarinder Singh, who resigned as prime minister and accused the party of humiliating him three times. Yesterday, Mr. Sidhu resigned as president of the Punjab Congress just two months after he took office, leaving the party in a high-voting state where he was in a strong position months ago.

"Punjab is a border state. Pakistan is taking advantage of the situation," Sibal said, repeating Amarinder Singh's criticism of the party that handed over the reins of Punjab to Mr. Sidhu.

In recent weeks, Congress has lost leaders like Sushmita Dev and Luizinho Faleiro. The nosebleed started when Jyotiraditya Scindia, one of Rahul Gandhi's closest confidants, joined the BJP last year. Jitin Prasada followed earlier this year. In Rajasthan, the match has yet to resolve the dispute between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.

While Mr. Sibal was speaking to the media this afternoon, Mr. Faleiro, an experienced guide from Goa, was received on board by the Trinamool Congress in Calcutta.

“I am very, very upset that I have to come to you. But we have no choice. I don't see Congress in this situation, ”Sibal told reporters.

Later that night, members of the Indian Youth Congress held protests in front of Kapil Sibal's residence and displayed signs reading "Get well soon, Kapil Sibal."
