Captain MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings became the first team in this season of the Indian Premier League to find a position in the playoffs. The CSK registered a convincing victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in match number 44 of the tournament in Sharjah, UAE.
Kane Williamson’s team had managed to put up a target of 135 runs for the Chennai team who started off on a brilliant note as openers Faf du Plessis (41) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (45) provided a brilliant 74-run opening partnership.
Some quick hitting by Ambati Rayudu (17* off 13) and skipper Dhoni (14* off 11) gave the team their final push leading them to a victory by 6 wickets.
Earlier in the match, Josh Hazlewood displayed stellar performance with the ball and registered his career his best in the IPL matches as he put up a score of 3/24. Other brilliant contributors included Dwayne Bravo who managed to pick up a couple of wickets as well helping the team limit the opponents at a total score of just 134 runs for 7 wickets.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha was the top scorer for the team with his 44 off 46 balls. No other batsman on the team could score more than 18 runs.
