Royal Challengers Bangalore bagged a convincing victory against Kolkata Knight Riders at yesterday’s match of the ongoing Indian Premier League, 2021 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Although they had a tottering start, the RCB score got propelled by stellar performances by Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers, taking the team’s total score to 204/4.
In the first two overs the Kolkata team managed to keep the Bangalore side in check as Varun Chakravarthy and Prasidh Krishna reduced them to 9/2. RCB however, rose up to the challenge and smashed run after run with Maxwell scoring 78 off 49 balls as he and opener Devdutt Padikkal put up a partnership of 86 runs. After Padikkal’s dismissal, de Villiers joined Maxwell in a decimating innings against the KKR bowlers.

The pair put up 53 off just 37 balls for the fourth wicket. Eventually Maxwell was taken out his Australian team mate Pat Cummins in the 17th over. AB de Villiers however stayed on to make the most of the rest of the innings. He took the team forward further as they made 56 runs off the last three overs and the last over being bowled by Andre Russel. At the end of the RCB’s batting innings, de Vulliers came out with a whopping 76 runs off only 34 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes.
