Meteora Monasteries, Greece

These Byzantine monasteries are located on sandstone boulders 60 million years ago, with an average height of 1,000 feet. The view of the monastery seems to be the crowning of rocks. Records indicate that they were built between the 14th and 17th centuries and are now one of the most visited tourist attractions in Greece.

Cliff Palace, Colorado, USA

The 150-room Cliff Palace is perfectly located under the natural sandstone refuge of Mesa Verde National Park. Records indicate that the palace was built by the ancestor's Pueblo in the 13th century, using mortar, sandstone, wooden beams, and small stones embedded in mortar to strengthen it. Today, it is known as the largest and best-preserved cliff dwelling in North America.

Hanging Temple of Shanxi, China

Xuankong Temple in Shanxi was built over 1500 years ago and can be called an architectural miracle. This temple was built on the edge of a cliff near Hengshan Mountain in Shanxi Province, China, without wooden pillars, and it appears to support it. The temple has 40 rooms connected by a maze of passages, originally built by drilling holes in the cliffs that support the temple.
