It has been more than a month since Neeraj Chopra, 23, won a gold medal in the javelin throw event at the Tokyo Olympics with a throw of 87.58 metres, making him the first Indian athlete to win an Olympic medal in Track and Field, and he has become a phenomenon in the country.
Whether it is a public event, interviews, reality shows, or social media, Neeraj Chopra is everywhere after being honoured by various state governments, sports bodies, public relations firms, sports franchises, and has also been awarded cash prizes and gifts such as cars, among other things.
Chopra's social media value has now risen to INR 428 crores, according to recent research by YouGov SPORT, a consultancy firm. The sum is the result of 2.9 million mentions from over 1.4 million Instagram users worldwide after Neeraj made history in Tokyo on August 7.
While Neeraj's Instagram handle saw a 2300% increase in followers to 4.5 million, total interactions increased by 86.3 percent to 12.79 million.
Neeraj Chopra's brand endorsement fees have also increased from INR 20-30 Lakh to 2 crores.
