Many women and girls around the world suffer from PCOS, which is short for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, a condition that can be caused by genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that lead to hormonal imbalance, irregular menstrual cycles, weight gain, acne, hair loss, etc.

It should be noted that while PCOS cannot be completely cured, it can be controlled with a healthy and balanced diet and lifestyle, such as exercising daily. Nikhil Maheshwari, Director of MPIL Wellness, says that Ayurveda and yoga are known to be extremely effective in fighting PCOS by helping women restore balance and lead healthy lives.

As such, he lists some Ayurvedic herbs and practices that can help keep your PCOS in check while improving your overall health and well-being.

Basti (herbal enema)

Basti is often administered in 2 phases, an oil phase and a boil phase. Basti is an enema-based Ayurvedic method that helps release Vata, which normalizes bowel movements and gives an overall feeling of a clean and healthy intestine.

Virechan (Herbal Cleanse)

Our body needs to get rid of toxins and Virechan is used for this: to remove toxins like contaminated pitta from our body. Virechan is carried out by administering Ayurvedic medications that induce bowel movements to clean our intestines and keep them healthy.

Vaman (breaking herbs)

A practice that is also used to cleanse the body. Vaman's main goal is to get rid of the damaged kapha through vomiting. As a painless procedure, Vaman not only detoxifies the body, but also balances hormones and keeps PCOS in check.

Yoga exercises

Following an Ayurvedic lifestyle also includes a combination of selected yoga poses to help you address specific problems such as polycystic ovary syndrome. Certain yoga asanas such as pranayama, the butterfly pose, bharadvajasana, padma sadhana, surya namaskar, sarvangasana, etc. They help balance hormones and keep PCOS in check, Maheshwari says.

Healthy Eating

Avoid eating fried foods, red meat, or anything that contains excess fat, as this increases the body's insulin levels. On the other hand, consuming foods high in fiber can help control PCOS.

 * Kachnar: An excellent astringent, kachnar reduces inflammation by shrinking the cells of the cyst tissue. In addition, it also regulates blood circulation during menstruation while helping to lose weight.

 * Ashoka: A uterine stimulant that helps increase uterine contractions and maintains healthy reproductive organs by stimulating ovarian tissue. Ashoka herb is known to combat menstrual irregularities. It is an excellent cure for PCOS.

 * Nirgundi: This herb helps relieve cyclic mastalgia: pain in the chest region that intensifies just before menstruation and contains analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Nirgundi also helps control premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual syndrome) and improves fertility.
