India recorded 31,923 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours taking the daily figures upward of the 30,000 mark once again in the last few days.

As per data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country had logged 29,964 new cases of Covid-19 a day earlier.

After the release of the latest figures, India’s active case load accounts for less than one per cent of the nation’s total number of coronavirus cases. It currently stands at 0.90 per cent, the lowest since March last year.

Recovery rate in India is at 97.77 per cent, the maximum it has reached ever since March 2020. In the last 24 hours, the country has recorded the discharge of 31,990 patients from hospitals across it who have recovered from the deadly virus. With this, the total number of recovered patients in the country has gone up to 3,28,15,731.

Meanwhile, the vaccination drive is the country is also going on at full swing and as per data released by the Ministry of Health, the total number of vaccine doses administered in the last 24 hours is 83.39 crore under the Centre initiated Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

At present, the biggest cause of concern for the people of India is the possibility of a third wave of the pandemic that is looming large. Indians are worried about when the dreaded third wave will hit and how it will affect the nation this time around.

As per reports, the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) has cautioned the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of a third wave hitting and peaking in October this year. It is noteworthy here that the NIDM's report quoted Reuters' opinion survey of 40 experts that predicted that the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to hit India between July 15, 2021, and October 13, 2021.
