Kuldeep Yadav returns home…get the details…

Tuesday, 28th September 2021

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav, having sustained a serious knee injury during the second leg of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2021 in the United Arab Emirates, has returned to his home country. He will in all likelihood, have to give the rest of the season a miss.

As per sources, Yadav’s injury seems to be intense and will require the player to undergo an extensive rehabilitation process. In effect, he might also miss out on several of the upcoming domestic tournaments.

According to an official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Yadav, a member of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, had suffered an inopportune twist in his knee while fielding at one of the team’s training sessions. With an immediate diagnosis of the severity of the injury, it was declared that Yadav was unfit to participate in the remainder of the season and was immediately flown back to India.

It has also been reported that Yadav’s surgery has already taken place after his arrival in India, in a Mumbai hospital. However, he will have to give himself at least five to six months before the 26-year old can return to core action in cricket.

Knee injuries are considered one of the harsher forms of trauma and thus require a lengthy rehab process that involves re-starting training, strength training, and intense physiotherapy, all of which is conducted in the National Cricket Academy.

It is yet not clear if Kuldeep would be ready for the domestic white-ball season after the conclusion of the Ranji Trophy, most of which he will have to miss.

Ever since the IPL 2019, Kuldeep’s performance has been plummeting and his place on the Indian team has been dwindling. Although, he was once dubbed as the best modern Indian spinner overseas by Team India head coach Ravi Shastri, he has steadily lost favor with national selectors and has not been chosen for major matches of late.
